Kolhapur-Mumbai flight: Regional carrier Star Air begins service between Maharashtra cities

Regional carrier Star Air on Monday launched its services to Kolhapur from the city’s airport, an official statement said.

The flight will operate three times a week.

The services of the new route, which have started under the central government’s regional air connectivity scheme — UDAN — were virtually inaugurated by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia along with Minister of State for Civil Aviation , VK Singh, said.

So far, 433 new routes have been launched and more than 1 million passengers have benefited from this plan, as the minister informed in his speech.

Scindia also assured that extension of Kolhapur airport apron will be commissioned next month. The domestic terminal building will be inaugurated in March 2023, he added.

Singh expressed the hope that flight services on the new route would not only facilitate travel but also significantly boost trade and business activities in the regions.
