A Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen divorce would mean splitting their multimillion-dollar empire

Football star Tom Brady and his supermodel wife, Gisele Bündchen, have hired divorce lawyers.

“I don’t think there’s any going back now,” said an unnamed source New York PostPage Six, which first reported the news on Tuesday. “They both have lawyers and are looking at what a split will entail, who gets what and what the finances will be.”

Brady is a quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with seven Super Bowl wins under his belt, more than any other player in NFL history. From this year, Forbes ranks Brady as the ninth-highest-paid athlete in the world, with annual earnings of $83.9 million on and off the field. And Bündchen has had her own successful career, gaining fame as a model in the late 1990s before becoming the face of lingerie retailer Victoria’s Secret. She was the highest paid model in the world from 2002 to 2016.

It was previously reported that Brady and Bündchen, 45 and 42, respectively, have been “living separately” while dealing with “marital issues.” Brady and Bündchen married in 2009 and have two children together.

Those issues could involve Brady’s not-so-long retirement that lasted 40 days this year before he decided to return to football, which Bündchen has talked about publicly.

“Obviously, I have my concerns: this is a very violent sport, I have my children and I would like it to be more present,” Bündchen said. she in an interview published last month. “I’ve definitely had those conversations with him over and over again.”

The wealth of the couple

Of Brady’s nearly $84 million in annual earnings, $31.9 million came from his football salary, while another $52 million came from endorsements. These endorsements include Aston Martin, Hertz and Subway.

Meanwhile, Bündchen’s annual earnings, as of 2016 (latest of Forbes), was $30.5 million. He has worked with brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton and H&M.

Business and investments

In addition to their day jobs, the couple has a number of businesses and investments. In 2013, Brady co-founded TB12, a company that sells supplements and workout equipment. And last year, he co-founded Autograph, a sports and entertainment NFT (non-fungible token) collectible website, which raised $170 million in investor funding.

In 2020, Brady launched a global content company called 199 Productions (after being the 199th pick in the 2000 draft). The company intends to develop documentaries, films and TV shows. The first project, a documentary titled invisible football– it’s underway.

In addition, Brady is an investor in sports trading card service Alt and SageSpot, a platform designed to help content creators generate revenue.

Meanwhile, Bündchen launched her own lingerie company in partnership with the Brazilian version of Victoria’s Secret in 2011 and founded an organic cosmetics company in 2010. Along with other celebrities such as Rihanna and Beyoncé, she invested in the fashion brand French Destree earlier this year. .

In 2021, both Brady and Bündchen signed a long-term partnership with cryptocurrency exchange FTX; both received equity stakes in the company. Brady acts as an ambassador for the company, while Bündchen is the adviser on social and environmental initiatives.

His $26 million real estate portfolio

Brady and Bündchen own at least four properties, worth a total of $26 million, according to the New York Post.

So where exactly do they have houses and how much are each worth?

  • Miami (on an island nicknamed the “Billionaire Bunker”): $17 million
  • New York: $3.6 million
  • Big Sky, Mont.: $5.7 million
  • Santa Teresa, Costa Rica: Value unknown

New York City divorce attorney Jacqueline Newman, who is not related to Brady or Bündchen, said people that the couple has likely already figured out how they would divide their assets if they divorce.

“People of this magnitude of wealth generally don’t get married without a document that dictates what will happen if it doesn’t run its course,” Newman said.

But that may not take into account purchases made together, like their homes.

“There were probably assets that were acquired during the marriage, so there can be contention to say the least,” Newman said.
