In an effort to make banking services more accessible, state-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) on Monday said it has introduced banking services through WhatsApp for both customers and non-customers.
To activate the banking facility on WhatsApp, customers must first save the official PNB WhatsApp number +919264092640 in their phone book and initiate a conversation (on WhatsApp) by sending a greeting to this number, the bank said in a statement .
Before starting a conversation, the customer should make sure to check the ‘green tick’ along with the PNB profile name on WhatsApp to ensure that it is a genuine WhatsApp bank account, he said .
At present, he said, PNB will offer non-financial services like balance enquiry, last five transactions, check stop, check book request to its account holders through WhatsApp banking.
Other informational services to be provided to both account holders and non-account holders include online account opening, bank deposit/loan product inquiry, digital products, NRI services, branch/ATM locator, opt- in and opt-out options, he said.
WhatsApp Banking will be available 24/7, including holidays, on both Android and iOS mobile phones.
