Surprise! While we just celebrated Amazon Prime Day in July, the mega-retailer has announced a second major savings event: the Prime Early Access Sale, which will take place on Wednesday, October 11th and Thursday, October 12th.
Of course, it’s never too early to start writing your wish list for the big sale. Below, we break down everything you need to know ahead of the event.
The Amazon Prime Early Access Sale is the first sale event of its kind, exclusive to Prime members in the fall season, ahead of holiday shopping. Offers two days of special savings on thousands of items across all product categories.
Amazon announced that the Prime early access sale will take place this year on October 11th and 12th.
For the past few years, Amazon Prime Day has also lasted two days. Before 2020, Prime Day always took place in July, but the sale was delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic, and took place in October. In 2021, the event returned to the summer with a June date, and earlier this year, Prime Day took place in July.
Now, it looks like Amazon is paying homage to Prime Day ahead of the 2020 holiday with the announcement of the Prime Early Access Sale.
First thing’s first: make sure you actually have an Amazon Prime membership. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial here, after which your subscription will cost $14.99 per month or $139 per year. In addition to fast, free two-day shipping, you’ll also get access to Prime Video ad-free music streaming, unlimited photo storage, and unlimited reading. Many of the best deals in the Prime Early Access Sale, including Lightning Deals (we’ll get to that in a second), are only available to Prime members.
Once your subscription is complete, you should also take some time to make sure your payment methods, including 1-click settings and default delivery, are up to date so that you can get the offers you want from timely manner
In addition, Prime members can set up deal alert notifications related to their recent Amazon searches and recently viewed items on the Prime Early Access Sale event page in the Amazon app starting now until the event. Once the Prime Early Access sale begins, members will receive push notifications about all available offers.
Alexa will also be able to notify everyone of deals 24 hours before they go live when you create a wishlist, add items to your cart, or save them for later. These items can also be purchased using Alexa.
While some early bird deals are already available, you’ll want to bookmark Amazon’s deals page, where all of the items included in the sale should appear. Be sure to check back early and often on the big day; Prime Early Access sale offers are likely to sell out quickly, and new offers will likely be added during the sale event.

Amazon hasn’t officially announced any specific deals, but on Prime Day, we saw savings that ranged from electronics and large appliances to small household items. Based on what we saw last summer, here are some of the deals we can expect to see happen this year:
• Beats Fit Pro: Last Prime Day, the Beats Fit Pro were down $159.95 (down from $199.95).
• Apple Watch Series 7: We saw the Apple Watch Series 7 on sale during Prime Day for more than $100 off.
• 55 inch Samsung Smart TV: During Prime Day in July, The Frame dropped to its lowest price ever.
• 2021 Apple TV 4K: Our update pick for the best streaming device was $70 off last Prime Day, a new all-time low.
• Robot vacuum cleaner iRobot Roomba i7+: Several models of the smart vacuum were discounted, but this high-tech one was reduced to the lowest price we’ve seen.
• Sony WH-1000XM4: Our pick of the best overall headphones dropped to a new low price today in blue and black colors.
Amazon’s Prime early access sale isn’t the only big sale to watch out for, as many other major retailers will likely be offering discounts as well.
While we recommend Amazon as our go-to for many of the items listed above, both Walmart and Target can cut prices on many electronics, home goods, and more close to (or better than) Amazon’s prices. In July, both offered significant savings on a wide range of products to coincide with Prime Day.
Electronics giant Best Buy will also likely compete with Prime Early Access Sale deals; in June, the retailer offered up to $300 off select laptops, $200 off select MacBooks, up to $350 off gaming desktops, and up to 50% off select small kitchen appliances.
For those looking for deep discounts on furniture and appliances, Wayfair will likely be the place to find the best deals. We expect the retailer to offer sales of up to 60% off, the same savings it offered in July, on the same dates as the Prime early access sale.
