The New England Patriots are in their post-Brady era, and as the NFL season gets into full swing, so does the Patriots’ roster. The club closed a new deal with software firm NFT Chain this week. Let’s take a look at the details of the deal and what we can expect to see as the partnership comes to life in the coming months.
The Patriots & Chain: What the deal looks like
The press release went to the public earlier Thursday and described a new partnership between not only the Patriots, but also controlling holding company Kraft Sports + Entertainment. That means the sponsorship deal with Chain will include the Patriots along with other Kraft properties, including MLS club New England Revolution, as well as Gillette Stadium and the nearby Patriot Place mall.
Kraft vice president of sales Murray Kohl echoed a sentiment seen throughout the press release: the company was present at the emergence of “web2” and wishes to be just a gift for the first stages of anything “web3” offers us. Kohl cited his web2 victories, from being the “first professional sports team with a website” and beyond. The statement went on to proclaim that “with Chain, we will seek to innovate in the same way with its cutting-edge blockchain technology.” Chain focuses on blockchain infrastructure and generally provides blockchain-related services under a SaaS model.
Some outlets have reported the rumor that the team has also purchased the ENS patriots.eth domain for 75 ETH as part of the deal. However, we have not been able to confirm the veracity of this claim.
The position of the patriots
The club is clearly showing a keen interest in playing in blockchain technology; we’ll see how it works with Chain.
