LeBron James might be trying something new.
The NBA icon sent the Internet into a frenzy Tuesday afterward sharing a photo of himself looking cheerful in a barber’s chair with an apparently shaved bald head on his Instagram stories.
For years, James’ hair has been the brunt of memes, with the ballplayer once laughing to the a meme that compared her thin hair to a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup that got stuck in the wrapper.
Following his alleged unveiling, followers on Twitter were quick to praise the Lakers star for his new look, with “bald bro” trending on Twitter just hours after James dropped the viral photo on his account.
“Welcome to [the] bald my brother we have been waiting for you”, a user he wrote. ”@KingJames Sometimes we have to let our hair down to find true peace and solace. Now your beard will be the star of the show, let it shine.”
Another user said: “LeBron eventually he went bald. He’s about to win MVP,” along with a laughing emoji.
“The Bald Bron is the ultimate form of greatness…as a man who has been bald since the age of 21, we should have a #BaldAwarenessMonth,” a user added.
But some weren’t so quick to believe the star’s new look.
A large number of fans began to question the validity of James’ hairstyle and raised the possibility that he used a filter to digitally trick people into thinking he had gone bald.
