Hillary Clinton said Thursday that the classified documents former President Donald Trump allegedly amassed at her home are the kind that required a military escort when she was secretary of state. (Watch the video below.)
Clinton told “Late Night” host Seth Meyers that when she was reading top-secret material, an official “would come into my office and he had a handle that was attached to a suitcase to show me something that was so secret that I literally had.” to have him tied to his hand.”
The officer would watch Clinton read it and sign that he had reviewed it, then return it, he recalled.
Clinton, who lost the 2016 presidential election to Trump, recalled cries from her supporters to “shut her down” for using a private email server to conduct government business. Clinton faced accusations that she tried to cover up wrongdoing. (An investigation of State Department emails determined in 2019 that “There was no persuasive evidence of systemic and deliberate mishandling of classified information,” The New York Times reported.)
“Unlike those guys, I’m not saying ‘shut him down,'” Clinton said of Trump and his supporters. “I’m saying let’s look for the facts and follow the evidence wherever it goes.”
